Mustafa Gultebh, head of the Istanbul Readymade Garments Exporters Association, said his country is seeking to be the world’s leading exporter of ready-made garments this year.

Gulthba said in a statement on Tuesday that Turkey’s exports amounted to 17 billion dollars in 2017, expected to rise 10 % and record 19 billion dollars in 2018.

He added: “Turkey will precede Italy in the export of ready-made garments, and our site today is second only to Italy in this area.”

Gultebh pointed to the high quality of the Turkish ready-made clothing, providing great comfort to the wearers.

According to a recent report by the Union of Aegean Exporters (EİB), 10 out of every 100 people in Germany wear clothing made in Turkey.
Turkey has more than 60,000 clothing and textile companies, employing more than a million people.
